A first-round interview that listens. Built from what the CV left open.
ARIA is Pyro's AI interviewer. It runs a spoken first round with each candidate, asks a follow-up when an answer is vague, and gives you a timestamped transcript and a draft scorecard with the quotes behind it. It is built for employers and recruiters, not as a tool for candidates.
What is AI interview software?
AI interview software interviews candidates for you, either as one-way video or as a live conversation. ARIA is the live kind. It talks with each candidate about what their CV left open, follows up when an answer is vague, and hands you the quote behind every rating.
An ARIA interview, start to finish.
- 01Invite
Send an invite, or let Pyro invite candidates whose screening score meets the bar you set for the role.
- 02Disclose and consent
Before anything starts, the candidate is told they will speak with an AI and asked for consent. They can decline.
- 03A plan for this candidate
ARIA's questions come from the role's criteria and from what this candidate's CV left unanswered, not from a generic list.
- 04A real conversation
ARIA waits for the candidate to finish, asks a follow-up when an answer is thin, and can pause and pick up again later.
- 05Transcript and scorecard
You get a timestamped transcript, a highlight reel and a draft scorecard with a quote for each criterion.
- 06You decide
A recruiter reviews the evidence and makes the call. The human round can follow in Pyro's interview room, with a live copilot for the interviewer.
What you get after an ARIA interview.
Every rating on the draft scorecard sits next to the answer that earned it, with its timestamp, so you can play the moment back instead of trusting a number.
A recruiter confirms or changes every rating.
One-way video, or a live interviewer.
One-way video tools send candidates a fixed list of questions to answer on camera, for a recruiter to watch later. Nothing in the tool notices that an answer was vague, so nothing asks again.
ARIA holds the conversation instead. In the example above, the candidate's first answer gives the team the credit; ARIA asks which decision was theirs alone, and the second answer is the one that ends up on the scorecard. That follow-up is where most of the signal is.
Where ARIA’s questions come from.
A generic question list tests whether a candidate has prepared for generic questions. ARIA starts from two things that are specific: the criteria agreed for the role, and what this candidate’s CV left unanswered.
If the CV shows the scale of a system but not who made the decisions, ARIA asks about the decisions. If an answer describes what the team did, ARIA asks what the candidate did. Every candidate for the role is held to the same criteria; the follow-ups go where each CV is thin.
Where a first-round AI interview earns its place.
- Roles with many applicants, where recruiters cannot speak to everyone worth a conversation.
- Agencies screening for several clients at once, where first rounds eat recruiter days.
- Startups without a recruiting team, where founders run every first round themselves.
- Any role where you want every candidate asked the same things, and the answers kept as evidence.
Designed to be fair to the person on the other side.
- Before the first question, the candidate sees that they are about to speak with an AI and is asked for consent. They can decline.
- Every candidate for the role is held to the same criteria. ARIA's follow-ups only probe what their CV left open.
- ARIA waits for the candidate to finish. One candidate told us it understood when they were pausing to think and when they were done.
- Notes about the session, such as switching tabs, go to the reviewer. They never change the score.
- ARIA never decides. A recruiter reviews the interview and makes the call.
- ARIA does not judge honesty or score emotion. It hands a person the evidence.
What an ARIA interview is like for the candidate.
A first-round interview is often a candidate’s first real conversation with you. ARIA is designed so it feels like one.
- The candidate opens a link from their invitation, in the browser, with nothing to install.
- They are told they will speak with an AI, what the interview is for, and asked for consent.
- ARIA asks about the role and about their own experience, and waits for them to finish each answer.
- If an answer is thin, ARIA asks one follow-up, the way a good interviewer would.
- They can pause and pick up again later if something comes up.
How to read an ARIA interview in five minutes.
You do not need to watch every interview end to end. Start where the evidence is.
- Open the draft scorecard and read the criteria marked as evidenced, with their quotes.
- For any rating you doubt, jump to its timestamp and hear the answer for yourself.
- Read what is still open: those are the questions for the human round.
- Check the session notes for anything worth a second look. They inform you; they never change the score.
- Confirm or change each rating, then decide the next stage yourself.
Where ARIA fits with human interviews.
Because ARIA has already run the first round, recruiters and hiring managers meet the candidates worth a conversation knowing what the CV and the first round left open.
The human round can then happen in Pyro's interview room, where a copilot visible only to the interviewer keeps the question list, marks questions as asked and drafts follow-ups from the last answer. It never speaks to the candidate.
Running a fair pilot.
Try ARIA on a role you are hiring for now, and judge it on the evidence it hands you.
- Pick a role with clear criteria and enough applicants to compare.
- Set the screening score at which Pyro invites a candidate to an ARIA first round.
- Read the first ten scorecards against your own judgement of the same candidates.
- Ask candidates how the interview felt. Their answers are part of the result.
Questions to ask any AI interview vendor.
- 01Does it hold a conversation, or record one-way video?Only a conversation can follow up on a vague answer. ARIA is a live conversation.
- 02Does every rating link to the answer behind it?You should be able to play back the moment. In Pyro, each rating links to its timestamped quote.
- 03Is the candidate told it is an AI, and asked to consent?Disclosure is fair, and in many places required. ARIA says it is an AI before it starts.
- 04Does it score emotion or facial expressions? Those signals are unreliable and increasingly regulated. ARIA does not score them.
- 05Who makes the decision? The AI should inform the decision, not take it. In Pyro, a recruiter decides.
- 06Is it part of your ATS, or bolted on?In Pyro the interview feeds the same record as screening and the human round.
“First it asked questions relevant to the JD and then specific to my experience. So everything was relevant.”

What is ARIA?
ARIA is Pyro's AI interviewer. It runs spoken first-round interviews for recruiters and employers and hands them a transcript and a draft scorecard.
Can an AI run an interview without a recruiter?
ARIA runs the first round on its own, but a recruiter reviews every interview and makes every decision.
Do candidates know they are talking to an AI?
Yes. ARIA says it is an AI before the interview starts, and the candidate is asked for consent. They can decline.
Is an AI interview fair?
Every candidate for a role is held to the same criteria, ARIA's follow-ups only probe what is still open, and its notes about the session never change the score. A person reviews the evidence before deciding.
Does ARIA detect cheating?
No. ARIA shows the reviewer notes such as tab switching, but it does not judge honesty, and those notes never affect the score.
Which languages does ARIA interview in?
English today.
Where do candidates take the interview?
In Pyro's own interview room, in their browser, with nothing to install.
How is it priced?
Per interview, as part of Pyro's usage pricing. There is no per-seat licence. Book a demo for numbers on your volumes.
How long is an ARIA interview?
As long as the role’s criteria need. ARIA works through what the CV left open, follows up where an answer is thin, and finishes when the plan is covered.
Can candidates pause an AI interview?
Yes. A candidate can pause and pick up again later, for example if their connection drops or something comes up.
What does the recruiter get after the interview?
A timestamped transcript, a highlight reel and a draft scorecard with a quote for each criterion. The recruiter confirms or changes every rating.
Is AI interview software the same as one-way video?
No. One-way video records answers to a fixed list of questions. ARIA holds a spoken conversation and follows up on vague answers.
Can ARIA interview for technical roles?
Yes. ARIA’s questions come from the role’s criteria, so a technical role gets questions about the technical work the CV describes, and follow-ups where an answer stays general.
What happens if a candidate declines the AI interview?
Nothing is held against them. The recruiter sees that they declined and decides the next step, for example a call with a person.
Who sees the interview recording?
The people in your team who work on the role. Each customer’s data is isolated by the database itself and encrypted at rest.
Does ARIA replace the human interview?
No. ARIA runs the first round so the people on your team spend their interviews on the candidates worth meeting, already knowing what is still open.
